The NYK Maritime Museum* will hold a special exhibit from July 4 to October 18 in recognition of 130 years of business operations by the NYK Group. A large "rainbow display" will be used to highlight the world's main sea routes and will enable visitors to feel the progress of technology by directly touching steel used to build ships during different time periods.

In addition, the following lectures will be offered at no additional cost to the first 80 guests:

July 25 (Sat) 14:00 - 15:30

'Shipping through the Arctic Ocean: Current Status and Future Prospects'

August 22 (Sat) 14:00 ??? 15:30

'Making Use of Creative Solutions in Oceanographic Surveys'

September 26 (Sat) 14:00 - 15:30

A workshop to create a paper-craft replica of the cruise ship Asuka II will also be held for the first 20 elementary school students on July 20 from 14:00 to 15:30. Admission for the children will be free, but a 500 yen fee will be charged for the paper craft. The regular admission fee will be required of parents or guardians accompanying the children.

The special exhibit, the lectures, and the paper-craft workshop will all be offered in Japanese. For more information in Japanese about this event, please see the museum's website (

NYK will continue its efforts to deepen interest in the maritime industry and ships by providing current and future generations with a link to Japan's maritime history through the NYK Maritime Museum and the museum ship NYK Hikawamaru.
