London, 13th July 2009

NYK can confirm that at 05:15 this morning a gantry crane collapsed onto the NYK THEMIS while she was loading export cargo at the DP World Southampton terminal.

The crew members onboard the vessel are safe and there is no reported oil pollution nor damage to the environment, however our thoughts are with the injured crane operator who has been taken to hospital.

The incident is being managed by DP World Southampton and all media enquiries should be directed to their Press Office at DP World Southampton on 02380 706432.

NYK THEMIS is operating on the EU 1 loop and was completing her UK export call before departing for Le Havre and eastwards to Asia.  It is too early to know how long the vessel will be delayed, although contingency planning has begun with Grand Alliance partners.
