While striving to improve its environmental performance in every location in which it operates, NYK Group has recently renewed its ISO 14001 certificate for an additional three-year period.

The company is currently accredited for over 800 sites worldwide, including ships, warehouses and office locations. It first obtained the certificate in 2002.

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard that helps organisations comply with applicable legislation and improve their environmental management systems. The renewal of NYK’s certificate was carried out by independent auditors, Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance.

Alan Harries, General Manager & Chief of Environmental Management, NYK Group Europe, said: "Environmental issues like global warming and biodiversity are among our biggest challenges. To try and meet these challenges, it is our policy to increase efficiency, raise employee awareness and invest in eco-friendly technologies."

He added: "As third-party accreditations like ISO 14001 validate our efforts, we are delighted that our certificate has been renewed for another three years."
