112 wheelchairs were handed over at an official ceremony on Friday 27th July at the Specialized Hospital for Children in Bankya, Bulgaria.

The ceremony was attended by the Japanese ambassador to Bulgaria, Mr Koichiro Fukui; the wife of Bulgarian ambassador to Japan, Mrs Anna Sendova and Minister of Healthcare, Professor Gaidarski, along with many other state organizations and Bulgarian journalists.

The wheelchairs were presented to the children by Bulgarian-born sumo wrestler Kotooshu. Kotooshu, weighing in at 152 kilos and standing 2 metres tall, is sponsored by NYK in Japan, also helped pack the wheelchairs in Tokyo.

NYK together with its Bulgarian agent Transterra Logistics Bulgaria Ltd provided free assistance to Japanese charity, The Volunteers Group to send Wheelchairs to Overseas Children. The wheelchairs were loaded in Tokyo in April and travelled to Singapore on the NYK APHRODITE before being transferred to the NYK ANTARES for shipment to Europe.

In charitable actions such as this, NYK continues to use its logistics and transport services, facilities and networks across oceans, land, and air to demonstrate the group???s commitment to social contribution activities.
